Hey in brokenpants.com-of-days-of-yore type news, I had a moment of inspiration or something today and got out my soldering iron today. It’s been packed away inside a toolbox inside a basket inside a closet, along with all the accumulated unused electrical components I have left, but this afternoon I used it to fix some stuff that’s been sitting around. Really basic stuff, just connecting wires to things, but it’s been a long time so I’m crawling and maybe I’ll walk at some point.

Here’s some walkman distortion units that had broken wires

The one on the right was my old favorite during the all too brief Blood Waterfall-as-a-band period of uh 2007-2008ish. It used to sound cool as hell in a feedback loop by itself, with a wide range of PSSSHT sounds, and really responsive to knob twiddling and touching random points on the circuitboard, and the radio parts still worked and kind of mixed with the input. Now it doesn’t even have an input attached and it’s still crazy, it makes loud rhythmic sputtering noises and the volume knob is like LFO rate, and you can still sort of hear the radio, it’s weird……….

Here’s a contact mic! I broke all the ones I used to use, probably from chewing on them too hard. Hope epoxy isn’t poisonous lol!!!!!

Here’s a dumb phone that I will try to use as a mic and hopefully will sound good! Like Japanther except stupid!

Oh also I started this comic a long time ago and hated the way it looked, but it’s an idea I like and I’m going to try to start over and make it a lot bigger and longer and it’ll probably take a million years to never get done but oh well!

Also I think I said this before but I’m trying to write and record musical songs. So far it’s mostly just been a lot of slowing down Steely Dan samples and grooving on that but I’ve been focusing on stripping down the sound and getting back to my roots and brightly punching so who knows perhaps I’ll have some music output someday soon.

Now I have to go off to work! At 10pm on a Saturday night! Say WHAT?????

    December 10th, 2009

    drawn summer/fall 2009

24+ pages of comics and doodles!!

    silkscreened three color cover…!

    hand-numbered edtion of 100

Wowowow it’s finally done, after many months of toils and travails and etc, PCR8 is finally done done. Everything’s been drawn and ready to print for a long time, but the printing and screening and misc. errors were numerous and distressing. But who cares for now all is forgotten in the Dionysian celebrations that accompany the release of a new stupid comic book.

The silkscreen is basically the Sistene Chapel of screens! Wow talk about intricate!

Johnny Guttenberg eat your heart out!

Anyway, I’m glad to have it finished.

If you want one, email me or talk to me on the internet or in real life. If you asked me for one after #7 was out and I said I would but didn’t, it’s because I was displeased with that one, also I’m stupid and self-sabotaging and antisocial, but this one is good! I promise! and I will send you one. They’ll be at Quimby’s soon and maybe other places, too.

I got a silkscreen kit for Christmas and used it to do the covers:

Also got this printer which is cool and convenient but has an unfortunate tendency to smell like burning:

Anyway, it’s pretty awesome, a ton of the stuff I’ve been drawing for the last few months collected and compiled and lookin all sexy. Look for it at Quimby’s in Wicker Park and Comix Revolution in Evanston, or email me if you want me to mail you one: stopmakingsteve@gmail.com

    cover

yay! it’s for sale at Quimby’s and C-Rev

I didn’t post because I’m thinkin of axin the blog altogether and switchin up the format… or likely sidelining the blog and making a comics gallery the main focus of brokenpants.com

    http://brokenpants.com/zinelist.php <-more images of PCR5 here

I'm still trying to figure out what the main page should look like and how to make it look that way... good times.

    hhh

Does this even work? I like Single File PHP Gallery but it’s kind of clunky and the links are ugly as hell… part of the trade off, I suppose. So I guess I’m looking for something else.

That’s a brand new comic, by the way, newer than PCR5 even, and I still have really good things to post from PCR5 online, so stay tuned and bear with us here at brokenpants.com !

It was actually done like two weeks ago, but I just got the time / ability to post about it here.

Hooray! Better than ever - denser, weirder, better drawings, more full of pathos / wisdom / scathing indictments of humanity’s follies and foibles than ever before. It’s at Quimby’s and Comix Revolution and my house… ask for it by name!

PCR3 sold eight out of ten consignment copies in three months, and I gave away or sold or traded more than sixty of the hundred I put together. Overall I’m pretty happy with it.

I’ve got some plans for the future involving my drawings, including but not limited to PCR5… keep ya peepers peeled. Much love.

  • musical things this week

    July 29th, 2008

I tried to print off Pork Chop Robinson #4 today and had some slight hangups (I didn’t put upload all the files? I don’t have any paper?) but it’ll be done done tomorrow. The covers just got spraypainted, and it’s more or less how I pictured it but I’m still a little conflicted… plus there’s orange paint all over one pant leg - no idea how that happened.
