If you didn’t already know, WNUR, the station at which I DJed and MDed during my time at NU, is moving to another building sometime in the not-so-immediate future. In the meantime, everyone else seems to have either abandoned the building or started trying to demolish it, and the already crummy basement is more and more derelict each time I visit. Today I happened to have my camera with me, so I took some shots to immortalize our proud station in fragile ones and zeroes.

I was at this coffee shop today, and while I was waiting in line I saw they had a daily trivia question on a little chalkboard, and today’s question was ‘Who wrote the Diary of Anne Frank?’ When I got to the counter, I answered that the Holocaust was a fabrication created after the war was over and perpetuated by the media, academia, Hollywood, and other Jew-run institutions in order to exploit the world’s guilt and empathy, and that while the Nazis may have harbored anti-Semitic feelings, there was no organized effort to exterminate the Jewish people, which was the correct answer, so I got my coffee for half-price. Pretty nice deal.

I’m going to make a show like Hey Remember the 80s? except for hipster indie music fans, it’s going to be people sitting around going, “Haha, I remember when that was reissued!” and “Haha, remember dance-punk? What was the deal with that?” and “Oh man, Neutral Milk Hotel, I remember when I first heard In an Aeroplane… in like 2002… and I didn’t get it at all, but people kept talking about it, so I tried it again a few months later and listened to it nonstop for a while, then later when people asked me about it, I’d be like, ‘oh yeah… that’s pretty cool…’ ”

If you think you’re cool enough to say cool things like that, and cool enough to do other cool things like repressing your nostaligiac love for the Smashing Pumpkins while making fun of Zwan, have your people contact my people about being on my sweet show.

    also here are some mp3s:

    stooges

Steven Bryant - Real Cool Time

This is from a cd called What Would This Record Have Sounded Like If John Cale Had Some Seatback and Cinzia La Fauci and Alberto Scotti Had Taken His Place? Well, everyone knows ex-Velvet John Cale produced Iggy and the Stooges’ first album. What this record presupposes is, what if he didn’t? Cinzia and Alberto run an Italian label called Snowdonia, and they got a bunch of people from around the world to cover Stooges songs, with a lot of bizarre results. Here is composer Steven Bryant’s stop-start, music concrete / noise rock version of “Real Cool Time” (and a picture of it).

    siloah

    Siloah - Road to Laramy

Now for something a little more laid back: like Amon Duul, Siloah was a German commune-turned-band in the early seventies. They put their drugs and bongos to good use, making goofy hippie-folk jams about… drugs, mostly. They’re awesome.

Wiccans and all of this other neo-paganism, disgusts me. It’s a perversion of the true religion, it is nothing in itself. My ancestors would have called themselves Asatru which means “loyal to the Aesir” I am that. I feel loyal to all of them, but for some reason feel a special kinship with Odin, Thor and Freya. Perhaps only because they are the best known and understood by me at this point in my life. If I must use a term, it would have to be Volkish Asatru. because I care about my people, and want to distance myself from those who do not. Our gods are only for people of Northern European ancestry, and no one else. I am a racist. But being a racist does not mean you have to hate nonwhites. It implies a love for your race and ancestry. I don’t know why nobody understand that, excpept for the fact that it is used derogatively all over the TV and news media. Though I am sometimes angry at nonwhites, I know it is not their fault they are here. I think the Gods would want their people to live in their own society with only other northern people.

I had a dream last night that I was on Jeopardy, and in Final Jeopardy I read my response, “Who is Mike Jones?” and Alex was like, “Who?” and I was like, “Mike Jones,” and Alex was like, “Who?” and I was like, “Mike Jones,” and then Rick James came out and yelled, “Snakes on a plane, bitch!” and slapped Alex, who just raised an eyebrow and replied, “Is that your final answer?”

When I woke up, I looked down and my rims were still spinning and OH MY GOD THAT WAS NO DREAM

I just went to this, and it was pretty rad. Any night with two Wolf Eyes side projects is pretty exciting, plus Burning Star Core’s CSY was there. He joined Graveyards for some creepy, skronky reeds and strings free-improv noise, and he spat and gabbered some surprise vocals over Lambsbread, too. No Fucker was this really loud hardcore band with both a grizzled old punk-rock-Alice Cooper looking guy and a fifteen year-old bassist - we hoped the rest of the band members were all the old guy’s illegitimate children - and I pussed out and left right before Bloodyminded.

On an unrelated note, here’s a sweet random disco song I apparently downloaded and never listened to until now.

Here’s a pretty sweet song by the New Young Pony Club, a dancey new wave band from the UK. It’s called “Ice Cream,” but if I’ve learned anything about rock and roll songs, it’s probably really about s-e-x. You can check out the video on their myspace, too.

If you want some more hot choons to dance to, DFA has some cool, eclectic mixes up for download on their site. These are all great and there’s some more here.
