  • [MySQL server has gone away]

    Since the band’s on a tiny hiatus I’m trying to remember how to play by myself (without having to resort to pre-recorded tapes/loops or overdubs or god forbid writing songs), so anyway here’s a bit of fuzz and feedback and me going ‘ooh.’ I kind of hate the way my voice sounds on tape, since it sounds so cool when it’s really loud but lame on the track, I am working on actually putting effort into the vocals.

    My favorite karaoke mic I bought freshman year from the going-out-of-business Tower Records? for five dollars, the one that was taped to a plastic cup since junior year (but recently freed of its burden), was apparently not designed to be used as a guitar pick, because the grill finally broke off. It still works, thank god, and though it may be less structurally sound the lack of guard rails let the sound particles climb all over the formerly out of reach areas within.

    super heavy sludge, bass blown out so far through the floor it’s underground, but melodic underneath it all with female vocals that dart in between the crushing guitar blows, it’s somewhere around Skullflower and the heavier Bardo Pond

    Aquarius called them CAVEMAN THIS HEAT which is pretty awesome and even better it’s pretty accurate, it’s like Orthrelm’s OV played at 1 rpm, rhythmic doom-drone loops with caveman drums and sometimes David Yow screams over it

    They’re both great records, pick them up today and headbang forever.

    I finally uploaded some stuff from PCR2, enjoy! New ones are near the top, like the top four each, and This one is the best. I’m probably going to scan some more later in the week, depending on whether or not the frost giants go all The Day After Tomorrow on the NU library.

  • Wood Grain Tapes comin soon, tell a friend

    Not really sure why I feel so strongly that I have to do this right now, but I’m going to produce, and uh ‘release’ somehow, some Blood Waterfall cassettes in the as-immediate-as-I-can-handle future. So I guess here’s the official official announcement of Wood Grain Tapes and the first two BW tapes; hooray!

    First I was going to print them myself, but my monochrome designs were pretty flat and uninspired, so then I was going to silkscreen them to add some color, but I guess starting a label is enough to do without also having to learn to slikscreen. Oh, and obviously visual aesthetics are the most important part of a piece of music, but I am also putting some modicum of effort into having them sound cool…
